Death of Finner Sgt

August 22nd, 2008

The death has taken place at his home after a brave battle against illness of Army sergeant Alex Warnock of Doran Close, Bundoran. He was 55. He served with the 28th Battalion in Finner Camp since April 1976.
Sgt Warnock was treasurer of the Bundoran branch of the Friends of St Luke’s Hospital, former chairman of Bundoran GAA Bord na nÓg, secretary of the senior club and a former referee.
He is survived by his wife Cecelia and five children, including son Brian, 28, a private in the same company at Finner.
The removal took place on Wednesday morning last to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Bundoran, for 11am mass, with interment immediately afterwards in nearby St.Ninnidh’s cemetery.
As a mark of respect, the open family day at Finner scheduled for Thursday was postponed.
A scaled-down version will be held next Tuesday.
