Gardai are appealing for information following a break-in at a popular Bundoran garage at the weekend.
Thieves broke into Bundoran Motors in the East End of the town at about 5am on Saturday morning last.
Two cars were taken, although one has since been recovered.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses to come forward and have said investigations are on-going.
About €1,000 worth of damage was done in gaining entry to the premises. Of the two cars stolen, one was recovered at an estate to the rear of the garage.
The second car, valued about €4,000 was in for repairs at the time.
Proprietor Kevin Keon said that he was very disappointed that the garage had been targeted, but had been encouraged by the support that the people of the town have given him since.
“This is the second break-in in the last two to three years. That time, some €10,000 worth of computer diagnostic equipment was stolen. The town has always been good to me, but when your business is attacked it this way, it is very difficult.
“People have been calling in since we opened on Monday and asked what they could do for us. This is the Bundoran that people do not always see. They have been very supportive of which I am grateful.”
Bundoran Town Sinn Féin Cllr Michael McMahon, who lives other a matter of metres from the garage is urging householders and business-owners to be vigilant.
“This is not the kind of thing that we want in this town. Businesses have it hard enough surviving in the current economic climate, without crimes such as this. Anyone with information should report it to the gardai straight away.”
