THE Ballyshannon Town Mayor’s Ball, which was held last weekend, has been praised as a great success with the proceeds set to benefit mental health and suicide charities as well as the local hospice.
Mayor John Meehan told the Donegal Post that the night in Dorrian’s Imperial Hotel went very well. This year, Ballyshannon Town Council has decided to donate the proceeds to mental health and suicide charities while monies raised through the raffle which amounted to €1,400 will go to the North West Hospice.
“There was a real community spirit and the event was very well attended with over 280 people. Some businesses also took the opportunity to make it their Christmas do,” said Cllr Meehan.
He added that he was delighted at the generosity of the people present on the night and that it was also an opportunity for the community to give something back.
“It’s a chance people get to give back to the community. The food was good, the music was good and the evening was an overall success,” he added.
